GLOBAL CONSULTATION
GLOSCA’s consultants provide services to families and individuals affected by sickle cell disorders, professional and community organizations working on sickle cell related issues. Services include training on comprehensive newborn screening programs, Installation of IEF machine, laboratory staff training, interpretation of newborn screening results and follow up consultations as needed, sickle cell management, family, and community support services as well as student mentorship.
NORTH AMERICA - Haiti:
GLOSCA consultant installed the IEF machine at Merberlis Teaching Hospital, trained laboratory staff and provided follow up consultation for screening result interpretation.
Jamaica:
Mentored doctoral nursing student working on sickle cell related issue, conducted research on sickle cell related stigma with collaborators, and conducted several undergraduate students’ health mission study abroad trips to Jamaica in collaboration with Salem State University, MA.
OCEANIA - New Zealand
GLOSCA provided consultation for the management and support of an adult with SCD
EUROPE - Poland:
GLOSCA through its consultant provided support for the management of an adult with SCD immediately post-partum.
AFRICA - Kenya:
GLOSCA’s consultant installed IEF in MOI Teaching Hospital, trained laboratory staff and provided follow up consultation for screening result interpretation. Provided consultation on sickle cell management.
Nigeria:
GLOSCA installed IEF machines in 4 states and established comprehensive newborn screening programs (CNBSP) in three States. The CNBSP in two states are poised to serve 8 states. Professional and community education on CNBSP and hemoglobinopathy educator and Counselor training programs are offered.
